Description

Stunning French Napoleon III era (Ca 1850-1870)) French ebonised rosewood marquetry glove box. This box has brass banding and is beautifully inlaid with etched brass, mother of pearl and red and green lacquer on the lid and on the front panel (which flaps down when the box is open). The box has its original key, which is rare, and the lock is in good working order. The outside of the box is ebonised/ lacquered with black lacquer, but the inside has been left un-tinted to showcase the beauty of the rosewood. It measures 28 cm long by 11.5 cm wide and stands 7.8 cm tall. 554 grams A fine example of Napoleon III era workmanship!
