Description
This is a Victorian Calligraphy set/ writing slope which is made of black lacquered wood inlaid with Mother of Pearl floral pattern. The box comes with lock and key and contains the following Small Glass inkwell, a red lined writing surface, altogether 4 compartments one for ink, a small compartment on the write possibly for stamps and seals and compartment with lid for pens and writing implements and a place to store paper underneath the writing surface. The box also comes with the following 2 calligraphy fountain pens with levers on the sides of each to draw up ink. The first pen is a black coloured implement made by Burnham with a 14ct gold nib. This is probably used for black ink. The second pen is Conway Stewart pen which also has a 14ct Gold nib. The pens still work as I have found to my cost in getting ink over myself when exploring this amazing find.
The box is in need of repair and restoration and would make a good project to bring it back to a good condition. The box and pens are being sold as seen and the item is as pictured.
